About Royally Morphed Pythons

This is the bit where I try and explain how one thing lead to another, and we now own all these snakes? This bit is difficult to understand to many, myself included! It's like a bug for me, I see their cute little heads, and so many different personalities and colours/patterns and it's hard to say no to them!

sammy the royal pythonI (Jonny) owned my first reptile, a royal python, in the year 2000. I shared a flat with one of my friends who owned this female royal, and I was totally fascinated by her. Then one day, my friend and his fiance, have a child (by this point I'm living alone now), and he asks me if I'd have his snake to keep. I welcomed her (Sammy) because I knew her very well from staying with my friend. She's a gem! Born in 1994, and still going strong, she has the best temperament of any royal I've ever held, and obviously my favourite!

About 6 months later I start feeling sorry for her, and at the time (when I was less knowledgeable), I decided she deserved a friend, and then I decided I wanted to breed them, so I bought another one. This was me with 3 royal pythons, 2 males and 1 female.

Anyway, it was not until 2005/2006 we had successfully bred them. Why the long wait? There was some mix up's due to the vet probing them which meant we had incorrectly sexed snakes, but we finally got there in the end.

We hatched out 7 baby royal pythons in 2006, and this is where thing's start getting funny!

pastel royal pythonI put an add in the local paper to sell a snake for £60. The paper made a mistake and the add said £600. I received a phone call from someone local thinking we were selling royal morphs, and he then went on to explain more things genetically etc.. An alarm went off in my head! He sent me links to pages I'd never even seen, or paid attention to in the past. It was unimaginable! I was happy to keep breeding normal royal pythons, and still will be, but now there's a whole colour pattern variation thing to experiment with and combining some amazing designer morphs. At this point I was already starting to drift into royal python madness, but this is just the beginning, and I cant imagine there being an end.

Myself and Marie are both really excited about the morphs, and extremely happy to be looking after these amazing snakes. Thankfully our amazing friend God (aka John, Eggman), has been able to produce this fantastic website, and we're able to share our story, snakes and advice.

Hope you enjoy the website, and don't be shy, we're always lurking around somewhere, so feel free to send us a e-mail, we'll most certainly reply.
